Meet J Scott Herod

J. Scott Herod was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. Known as Scott to many, to others as J, and for County Commissioner as J Scott. Born to East Texas natives, Dan from Grapeland and Sharon (McElyea) from Crockett, Herod’s parents divorced when he was young, each remarrying creating a large, loving and supportive network and family. Growing up, Scott split time with both sets of parents and learned to appreciate how God turned a tough situation into a happy ending.

Scott attended multiple schools within Tyler ISD and Martin’s Mill before settling in at Chapel Hill graduating from high school in 1996. Herod continued his education attending Texas A&M University where he earned a BBA in Management in 2000. Following graduation, Scott worked in outside sales for Guardsmark, Inc., an international security firm, with territories from San Antonio to the South Texas Valley before he was recruited and hired by Bank of America. At Bank of America, Scott worked his way from Banking Center Manager to Consumer Market Executive, Sr. Vice President where he directed and provided oversight to operations of all rural banking centers in Texas and Arizona as well as all banking centers in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. Herod left Bank of America in 2012 to become co-owner of Athlete Performance Enhancement Center, known to most as APEC, in Tyler before selling his stake in 2014 to open and operate Cut Beef where he remains focused on his small business and ranching.

Scott has been married to his wife, Misty, for 22 years and began his professional career as Misty completed medical school, her internship and residency to become an obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Herod has been practicing medicine at Christus Trinity Mother Francis since 2009.

Scott and Misty are the proud parents of teenage twins Landon and Kate (15) and daughter, Winnie (8). Scott and Misty enjoy cooking, dining at local restaurants, being active in the community and support their children at various school activities and sports. The Herods attend Grace Community Church.
